Experience the Strength of Women Working Together

BPW Hastings & Prince Edward was originally formed as BPW Trenton & District.
It aims to unite business and professional women locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally to work for women’s economic independence and equal opportunity and representation in economic, civil, and political life.

The group encourages and supports women and girls to develop their professional and leadership potential and to undertake lifelong education and training.  Business and Professional Women’s Clubs advocate for the elimination of all discrimination against women and for human rights and the use of gender-sensitive perspectives.

It is a diverse group of women working collectively toward common objectives for improving conditions for women.

Priority Theme

We understand that good work takes time and focus.  Addressing issues need our undivided attention and relationship building with those who can action change.

Our multi-year priority theme is voted on by the Club - we deliberate and have a healthy debate to ensure the chosen issue is on mandate.  Though there are many areas in which we could achieve our aims, diluting our energies would not achieve the same level of impact.

Charity of Choice

Each year, Business & Professional Women of Hastings & Prince Edward (BPW.H&PE)
selects an area organization working in the area of our priority theme that we wish to highlight.

We look to learn about them, understand their needs and the issues they work to address.
We work to raise awareness of them across our networks.
We seek to advocate for them locally and for the issues they address by way of petitions and resolutions to the right levels of government.
We collaborate with them and support their initiatives.
We raise funds to donate to them.

JUNE IS HERE

Picture
In June, Canada recognizes several important dates related to women's issues, including the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict (June 19) and National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21). Additionally, June 20 is World Refugee Day, and June 27 is Canadian Multiculturalism Day.

The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world.  Check out the Statistics Canada info at the Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Hub.

She is the first Filipino Canadian woman to be elected as a Member of Parliament in Canada and Cabinet Minister.
Frances McCrae, Deputy Minister - she was appointed as Deputy Minister of Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) effective July 18, 2022. Prior to taking on this role, Frances served as Chief Administrative Officer at the RCMP, appointed in September 2021, where she provided leadership to the overall administration of the organization outside of policing operations. “Every Canadian deserves the freedom to live a safe and healthy life, regardless of who they are or who they love. On International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, we reiterate our commitment in working with 2SLGBTQI+ communities to combat the stigma, discrimination, and violence they experience.
This year’s international theme, The power of communities, reflects the strength and resilience within 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
